Description:

You can't really say you have been to Tenerife without a trip to the Teide National Park. Covering an area of 190 square kilometres and boasting the highest peak in Spain (3718 metres), this UNESCO heritage site is one of the most visited national parks in the world. On this popular hiking tour, our guide will be showing you some of the highlights of the area.

The journey begins with pickup from your hotel. Hop on our comfortable private van and enjoy a scenic ride up to the national park. Notice the change of vegetations as we ascent and before you know it, the mesmerising sea of clouds forming below us.

We will follow the Roque de Gracia trail, a pleasant circular route of medium difficulty. The distance of the hike is about 3.5 km with the highest point of the trek being 2,100m above sea level. We begin the hike at a massive rock formation - Los Roques Chichado. Its peculiar shape is a result of successive layers of volcanic rock built up over hundred thousand of years ago and volcanic erosion. Nicknamed the "Stone Tree", it is arguably one of the most photographed rocks in the world. We will walk up close to observe the various colours and layers of this intriguing formation.

We continue our way down to the Llano de Ucanca valley where you'll get to marvel at the vast landscapes around you. This area is not only rich in native flora and fauna, but also extraordinary geological features ranging from monolithic rocks to all sorts of volcanic lava, tiers, solids and moonlike terrains. Some say this is the closest experience to being on Mars.

Teide National Park boasts close to 200 varieties of floras, of which 32 of them are totally unique to Tenerife. The Teide bugloss (Echium wildpretii) and the Teide violet (Viola cheiranthifolia) are some of these indigenous plants.

Some other impressive sights you will see during the hiking excursion are the La Cascada - an unusual lava tongue formation resembling a waterfall, as well as The Cathedral - a solidified lava in the shape of a chimney.

This tour is held in small groups, typically 1 guide to 8 participants.
