Beaches in Los Gigantes

Playa de Los Gigantes

The small black beach lies between the marina and the cliffs of Los Gigantes. Although it has natural sand and has relatively calmer waves due to the marina, its small size means that is less visited than others in the area. Although it is the only one in Los Gigantes, there are two other beaches in Puerto Santiago which is barely a 30 minute walk away. The beach is suitable for children, and several shops nearby sell buckets and spades for building sand castles. Be warned however that at certain points of the year the beach is closed for cleaning and other maintenance work. In November 2009, the beach was closed due to rock fall from the nearby cliff and after 17 months of restraining and reinforcing of the cliff wall with anchor points, cement and thick steel netting, the locals and visitors were very much delighted with the reopening of the beach on Easter 2011.
