There are several festivals held in Caleta de Fuste each year, with Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de la Peña del Mar and the Carnival being two of most significant and vibrant celebrations.

Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de la Peña del Mar

Every year, around the second weekend of October, a week-long celebration in honour of the Virgin of la Peña del Mar is held in Caleta de Fuste. From the election of Gala Queen, various sport competitions, to amazing fireworks, there are many events and activities to keep the locals and tourists entertained.


Approximately the third week of February is the carnival celebration, which usually extends till early March. Traditional events take place such as the burning of the sardine and fireworks, as well as processions with dancers and entertainers.

The beach provides a large part of the nightlife in Caleta de Fuste with its choice of bars and restaurants along the promenade. Caleta has something for everyone, whether you prefer a few quiet drinks in a local Spanish bar, or a livelier night out with partying until 4am. Live music and karaoke are just a mere example of the options available, with something to cater for whichever mood you are in.


There are three large shopping centres in Caleta de Fuste; the El Castillo centre built in 1980, the Happy Centre and Atlántico, the newest shopping centre, situated just outside of the town. Atlántico Shopping Centre offers not only a large selection of shops but also a food court with a vast array of food chains. It also has a cinema complex and a bowling alley.

Mercadillo (Market)

For a more authentic shopping experience, head to this weekly local agriculture and handicraft market. From fruits and vegetables to souvenirs and leathers, the choice is endless. Be aware you should be willing to barter to get the best deal as they will start with high prices. If you have a knack for haggling, be ready to pick up a bargain.

The market can be found near Montecastillo (towards the harbour) between 09:00 and 14:00 on Saturdays.
